About Me

I have had an interest in video games ever since I was young, when I first played Kirby’s Dream Land.

After I was given my first Gameboy Pocket at age 6, I knew exactly what I wanted to do for a job (though not specifically game programming at the time). I was so enthralled by this massive world that was in my hands. I had so much fun learning about the characters and their world. As I grew up, I started paying attention to what made a game fun and what did not. I broke down the mechanics of each game, and attempted to uncover why they were designed in a particular way. I continue to analyze games in the same manner to this day.

I play a wide variety of games to have a good idea of what works in each genre. I may not be good at every game that I play, but I play them enough to get a good perspective on the game’s design.

One of my greatest strengths is empathizing with others, which is why during game development I love working on gameplay features that other departments get to integrate into their own work. I enjoy making other people’s jobs easier, and will work closely with those outside of the programming department asking “How can I make your job easier? What exactly are you trying to do?”

My favorite thing to do in game development is trying and learning new things. I love challenging “the standard” for genres, as many innovations are born by breaking the norm. This is why I selected VR Locomotion for my Thesis at Guildhall. Most games use teleportation as a method of navigation, and I wanted to research viable alternatives.

Personality wise, I am very friendly and have a great sense of humor. I prefer to listen rather than talk, but will speak up when I need to voice an opinion or suggestion.
